Malik, a former Gartner Vice President, Analyst & Agenda Manager, has joined the team as an Advisor for information security, infrastructure and operations, and data center optimization.

Malik has an extraordinarily wide mastery of information security and systems management skills. He has helped enterprises of all sizes to optimize their IT investment, securely and efficiently.
In addition to publishing high-value research across Gartner disciplines, magic quadrants, Maik co-authored the foundational research “Client Server and Cooperative Processing” which defined the fundamental n-tiered architecture for computing, with remote or distributed presentation, data, and application layers. He also authored the report “Enterprisewide Security” which conceptualized the foundational architecture for security, privacy, and trustworthiness in IT and OT infrastructure.
Outside of Gartner, Malik led the cyber forensic investigation into possible IP theft at the investment bank running the largest MBO in history; helped architect the consolidation of AIG’s 30 global data centers into three mega-centers; audited a major NASDAQ trading platform for continuity, security, and resilience; led the deployment of an identity management across two Fortune 50 organizations; and served as CTO for Waveset, and identity management vendor acquired by Sun. Malik taught a graduate seminar on Security Policy at Georgia Tech and lectured at Quinnipiac Collete on ICS Security. He co-hosted the Real Cybersecurity podcast while an evangelist at Trend Micro. He broadcasts regular video clips called “A Bit of Security” talking about current trends and issues facing cybersecurity practitioners. He authored the chapter “Information Security Policy in the US National Context” for the text Information Security: Policy, Procedures, and Practices, published by M. E. Sharpe. William majored in Mathematics at MIT.
